Microgaming’s New Cash of Kingdoms SlotHarry Coulter | 17 Oct 2018
Isle of Man-based casino software developer Microgaming, which is known for releasing new games on a regular basis, has just launched another mobile optimized video slot. Called Cash of Kingdoms, it was premiered in a teaser at ICE Totally Gaming 2018.
Developed by Slingshot Studios
Microgaming has been in operation since 1994, and part of the reason for the company’s longevity is its willingness to try new ideas. To that end, it was recently announced that the industry legend would be teaming up with emerging studios to release exclusive content. One of their collaborators is Slingshot Studios, and Cash of Kingdoms is their first joint effort.
Slingshot’s Head of Studio, Richard Vermaak, said his company had worked hard on the project and had really enjoyed developing it. He added that he hoped players would have as much fun when they were spinning the reels.
An Innovative Release
The slightly tongue-in-cheek game features several characters on a quest, and is set in medieval times. Though the rich graphics are impressive, there is a cartoon-like feeling to them, which keeps the atmosphere on the reels light-hearted.
Higher-value icons include the Mage, the Knight, the Rogue, the Bombardier and the Archer. Special features help to make the gameplay more rewarding, and include a never-before-seen concept called Invading Wilds.
This can be triggered in the Free Spins Bonus Rounds and the base game, and turns an entire reel completely Wild. The feature is activated when Stacked Wilds are landed on Reel 2 or Reel 4. With Cash of Kingdoms paylines working in both directions, Invading Wilds always help to create rewards. During the Free Spins Round, 2x multipliers are applied to all wins.
A Pleasing Result
The long-time developer also appears to be very satisfied with the finished Cash of Kingdoms product. David Reynolds, the company’s Games Publisher, said the whole team had been anticipating the slot’s release since it was previewed and well-received at ICE Totally Gaming 2018.
He added that the game would be exciting when played on any device, thanks to new and regular special features that are amplified by paying both ways. Reynolds also spoke more generally about the new partnership with Slingshot Studios, saying it added even more dynamism to his company’s already-diverse portfolio, and that Microgaming was excited about the other exclusive releases that will be unveiled in the months ahead.
